Downloading The Penalty Result And Lender Options

Both the penalty result and the lender options can be exported as PDFs from the Penalty Calculator.

After running a penalty calculation, the Penalty Calculator gives you two downloadable PDFs you can send to clients or use for prep.

The Two Downloads

  • Penalty Result PDF - the headline math: IRD vs 3-month interest, the effective penalty, the inputs you used.
  • Lender Options PDF - the full comparison table across every lender, with savings ranked.

Click Export PDF on either card to download right away. Click Preview PDF next to it to open the report first - the preview has a Report sections panel down the right side where you toggle individual sections on or off, and the Download PDF button there gives you exactly what's on screen. So you can drop, say, the strategic-exit math for a client who only wants the headline number.

When To Use Each

  • Penalty Result PDF when the client just wants to know "what would it cost me to break?" - one number, one page.
  • Lender Options PDF when the client wants to see the full menu of where they could move and what each option saves. Use it to lead a conversation.

Often you'll send both together.

What's In The Penalty Result PDF

  • Client name (if attached) and date of calculation.
  • Lender, current rate, balance, months remaining.
  • IRD calculation with formula breakdown.
  • 3-month interest calculation.
  • Effective penalty (the higher of the two).
  • Any advanced options you applied (cashback, discount rate).
  • Your branding (photo, name, brokerage logo).

What's In The Lender Options PDF

  • Every lender's best offer for the client's situation.
  • Rate, effective penalty, new payment, net savings per row.
  • Best Option highlighted at the top.
  • A cumulative savings chart showing how far ahead the client comes out over time vs staying put.
  • Side-by-side comparison so the client sees the choices clearly.
  • Your branding (photo, name, brokerage logo).

Custom Rate Scenarios

If you type your own target rate instead of pulling one from the lender list, the second card becomes Custom Calculation and still exports the same refinance report - Preview and Export sit in its top-right corner just like the others. Since there's no specific lender attached yet, the comparison labels the proposed side Custom Lender against the client's current mortgage, so you can still hand them a clean before/after even when you haven't settled on a lender.

Sending The PDFs To A Client

The PDFs are downloadable, not auto-sent. Attach them to:

  • An email you compose yourself from your inbox.
  • A text message (with a link to the file).
  • A meeting prep package.
  • An IRD outreach email - attach at send time. See Sending A Candidate Report.

Same Pattern As Refinance Report Downloads

The refinance report download from a client profile works the same way. See Downloading Refinance And Penalty Reports for that flow.
