Watch Mandric walk you through this topic
Sent a portal and realized you forgot to ask for a document, or need to add a signature? You don't have to resend. Open the session, open the ... menu in the header, and choose Edit Active Portal to change what the client sees - the same editor you use when building a portal, now pointed at this live session. Their link stays the same.
This replaces the old Add Pack button - it does everything that did, plus more.
When You Can Edit
The Edit Active Portal option appears in the ... menu on any portal that's still In progress or Awaiting borrower (after you've requested changes). Once a portal is submitted or approved, editing is closed.
What You Can Do
Clicking Edit Active Portal opens the live portal in the editor with the client's view on the left:
- Reorder items by dragging them.
- Edit an item by clicking it - the side panel lets you change the label, description, note to the borrower, whether it's required, and (on joint applications) who it applies to.
- Add a one-off field, document, or signing document with the Add item to this step button at the bottom of the Your details, Documents, or Sign step.
- Edit a signing document the client hasn't started yet - upload a pdf, place the signature, date, and text fields, pick who signs, then save. The borrower gets it without you resending the link.
- Remove any item the client hasn't started yet.
- Add an add-on pack with the button in the footer - its items drop into the right steps and are attached when you save.
What's Locked
Anything the client has already completed is locked so you can't accidentally undo their work. A field they've answered, a document they've uploaded, or a signing document they've already started signing shows a Completed badge - it can't be dragged, deleted, or edited (clicking it opens a read-only view). A signing document is locked the moment the borrower begins signing it; before that it stays fully editable. Everything they haven't touched stays editable, and you can always add more - including new signing documents alongside locked ones.
How To Edit A Portal
- Open the portal session from Client Portals.
- Open the ... menu in the header and choose Edit Active Portal.
- Drag, click, add, or remove items across the Your details / Documents / Sign steps, and add packs from the footer.
- Click Save changes. Nothing is saved until you do - Cancel discards everything.
Your changes go live the next time the client opens their portal. The magic link they already have keeps working.
